My co-worker tells me the name of the company that bought The Onion, Yu Wan Mei, means "Perfect Fish." "Yu" means fish, I knew that. "Mei" means "beautiful." They well me "wan" means "complete," so maybe the literal translation is "Completely Beautiful Fish."
They were all in awe of The Onion's seeming command of both Chinese and the tone of Chinese officialdom.
