I was at a birthday party on Saturday and was introduced to the most annoying thing ever: the MetroCard clicker.

How good are hue?

Test your ability to differentiate between different hues.

My score: 16

That really surprised me. I was never confident in my color balancing abilities as a photo editor...and that carried over to when I worked at photo labs. My manager would always get on my case about too much cyan or not enough magenta in my prints. Now I'm starting to think I had it right and she was a little messed up in the head.

0. Perfect.

Maybe I'm in the right line of work after all.

19. I guess I'm in the right line of work too...good thing they make street signs with specific shapes, not just colors, or I might get confused while driving.

I haven't taken the quiz yet, but I looked at it and I know my results would be abysmal right now because I'm squinting at the monitor to read it past the sun blasting me in the face. The page is as much a test of your monitor and your lighting environment as it is of your rods and cones.

I think I'll wait until it's dark out and crank up the monitor brightness before I try.

58 first time, 35 second. What sort of evil color genuises are you guys?

6 for me.
I had a harder time with the last two sequences and the results graph bore that out. Tired eyes from staring too hard? Just a physical issue in my eyes? Cool test, though.

14 the next day, which is somewhat reassuring. I don't make claims for fabulous color vision abilities, but I do use Munsell charts in my work occasionally, and the pride of my craft projects has always been my color choices, so I was a bit disconcerted with the previous scores. I did try less hard today, which perhaps makes a difference.
