Jack Shafer calls out the media for ignoring the fact that most of the people being shown are poor and black. I would like to point out that it takes the destruction of the homes of 326,000 black people to knock one missing white girl off the air.
Shafer also points his readers to a five part series that the Times-Picayune did three years ago that looked at the impact that a major hurricane could have on New Orleans.
Update: It looks like the media is starting to look at class issues.
