During halftime of the Miami-Buffalo game yesterday, CBS reported that the terror threat level has been raised to high. During his speech to the nation, Tom Ridge let slip the fact that Flight 93 did not crash. The flight was actually a deliberate attack by Al Qaeda on “the fields of Pennsylvania”:
The information we have indicates that extremists abroad are anticipating near-term attacks that they believe will either rival, or exceed, the attacks that occurred in New York and the Pentagon and the fields of Pennsylvania nearly two years ago.
Up until this point, I’d been one of those people who assumed that terrorists crashed the plane in response to a passenger uprising. Thanks to Tom Ridge, I now know that the terrorists of Flight 93 accomplished their mission. On September 11, 2001, terrorists attacked the Wolrd Trade Center as a statement against America’s economic might; they attacked the Pentagon as a statement against the US’s military might; and they attacked the fields of Pennsylvania as a statement against America’s agricultural might. It’s all so clear now.
